Young Life Camp

This past week we traveled to Virginia to volunteer at the Rockbridge Young Life Camp. The campus is absolutely beautiful and we had an amazing week. The girls greatly enjoyed themselves, as they experienced all the fun of Young Life for the first time.

The cottage where we lived for the week.

The Springs Center (game room, snack bar, club, etc.)

The girls joining in on the fun of club. They loved the music and dancing!

Having fun in the little creek that ran through campus.

Abby was in heaven playing in water, dirt, and rocks!

Meal time!

The girls waiting with the O'Briens for their meal (along with the 570 other hungry kids). They especially liked when the kids clanged their silverware against their plates in excitement and anticipation of the food (something I've been trying to get them to NOT do at home!). If you look closely, you'll notice that there are cupcakes on the table. This was actually breakfast, but it was Backwards Day on campus, so we had wings, pizza, and cupcakes for breakfast. Gwyn was nice enough to sneak some cereal for the girls!

Abby enjoying her ice cream dessert!

Pool time!

Happy Retirement, Dad!

On Saturday, July 19th, we held a surprise retirement party at our house for my dad. Joined by family, friends, and co-workers, we surprised him with a outdoor party and pig roast! I definitely think he was surprised, and we hope it was a party he'll remember for years to come!

My Aunt Roberta flew in from North Carolina to surprise her brother!

The girls couldn't wait to get into the swimming pools! We didn't even have time to put on their swimsuits! They had a blast!

My brother, Keith, and his family came in from Pittsburgh.

Ryan decorated the tents with white lights, which made a beautiful nighttime scene.

Some of Our Favorite Things

Along with the summer months come some of our favorite summertime foods. This year the girls were old enough to share in some of the yummy treat.

Juicy strawberries from Baronner's Farm Market.

Picking (and eating) raspberries with daddy in the backyard.

Yummy corn-on-the-cob from Baronner's Farm Market. We were quite impressed with how well they were able to eat the corn off the cob!
